I am lazy when it comes to privacy.
Recently, Whatsapp has come under a lot of criticism for its handling of data — well, actually since Facebook took it over.
That’s why I’ve been looking at alternatives. One of them is Telegram.
I was surprised to find out that Telegram has many excellent features that WhatsApp doesn’t have.
Here are five advantages of Telegram, and it is not about privacy.
1. Telegram desktop
You can also use Telegram on your computer. No matter if Linux, Mac, or Windows. Yes, you can also use it with WhatsApp — but there is a crucial difference.
WhatsApp Desktop works technically differently. For you to use it, it has to be on the same network as your smartphone. So the desktop version connects to your phone for it to work.
Your smartphone has to be turned on, WhatsApp has to be running, and the network connection has to be flawless. This is why most users experience problems all the time.
The Telegram desktop version is wholly independent of your smartphone. I’ve tested it — you can even turn off your smartphone entirely…
